Author Michael Blucher’s latest biography explores the life of one of Brisbane’s biggest champions.

Steve Wilson: Little City, Big Dreams charts the rise of business leader and philanthropist Steve Wilson AM and his city-shaping vision for Brisbane as Australia’s most sustainable and successful capital.

Part character study, part local history, the book spans seven decades, blending Wilson’s personal story with Brisbane’s evolution from small town to world-class city. Born into a leading stockbroking family, Wilson built his career in London before returning to lead Wilsons in 1986, steering the firm through major financial shifts and founding two fund management success stories, Hyperion and Pinnacle.

Blucher also touches on Wilson’s strong ties to rugby union, continuing the author’s interest in sport seen in previous works like Perfect Union and Bubble Boys.
